Ergonomics – Barrel Sauna Comfort

Bathing comfort cannot be overlooked when investing in an outdoor sauna barrel. The diameter of the barrel and the bench/backrest configuration must be considered. Barrels with a small diameter may be priced lower due to using fewer materials, but the tradeoffs include limited door height, reduced bench comfort, and constrained headroom. Smaller barrels create posture issues, limit the ability to stand upright, and require ducking when entering or exiting. The ERGO Series Sauna Barrels offer a 6’5” interior height. Thanks to this generous diameter, the benches can be ergonomically contoured and formfitting. The wide arc supports an expansive, arched backrest for genuine lumbar support. The smooth, knot-free grade-A Thermo-Aspen seating material was chosen to provide a silky touch and superior comfort for most body types.

Thermo-Spruce wood is known to last up to twice as long as Cedar. Every SaunaLife barrel starts with 1.65” thick full-length staves that insulate the sauna effectively while enhancing durability. This eco-friendly, chemical-free wood is dimensionally stable and ideally suited for outdoor use. SaunaLife further elevates the experience with 1.1” thick, 3.5” wide Thermo-Aspen benches and backrests—nearly 50% thicker than standard options.

Ingenuity – Engineered to Exceed Expectations

Though simple in design and straightforward to install, the ERGO-Series is packed with innovation. It features extra-wide stainless steel barrel bands to secure the staves and maintain structural integrity. A watertight DIY shingle kit with side-mounted drip edges effectively manages rainwater. Dual floor drains—one under the sauna heater and another near the door—provide excellent water drainage, even if the barrel settles or shifts.

Illumination – Inside and Out

Lighting plays a vital role in elevating the sauna experience. The E7 includes a waterproof, low-voltage white LED lighting system that is Wi-Fi app-enabled. A handheld remote control is also provided for on/off and dim functions. These dotless white LEDs are heat and water certified (IP67), delivering an even and enchanting glow. For those looking to further enhance ambiance, optional upgrades like the E SCONCE+ and E MOOD lighting packages are available.

Crafted from the highest-quality Nordic Spruce, the E7 is dried to a rich golden hue, highlighting its natural grain and rustic, tight-knot appeal. The interior is fitted with knot-free Thermo-Aspen benches and backrests for a clean, luxurious look. Each unit includes a bottle of paraffin oil to preserve and enrich the sauna’s finish over time.
